Nadzeya Pashkevich was born in 1986 in one of the most beautiful corners of Belarus – Polesie, in the Stolin region.
She received her professional education at Kobrin College of Art and began her career with quite traditional paintings. She was interested in the work of many famous artists, in particular, favorite ones appeared, among them A. Savrasov, A. Kuindzhi, then K. Monet, Van Gogh. Towards the end of her studies, her own style began to take shape; the artists ofthe Paris school, A. Modigliani, Kh. Soutine, Sh. Tsarfin, and others’ style became very close.
In general, working in line with lyrical (romantic) abstractionism, the artist creates his/her own imaginative world of illusions, visions and states, and the play of lines and colors does not leave the viewer indifferent. Movement, energy flows arise on the canvases.
Nadzeya Pashkevich introduces elements of figuration very gently in her art works. She does it smoothly and softly. It seems that Nesvizh castle appears in some dreams. You can only guess that it is there, but when you see it, it creates absolutely different atmosphere and gives new emotions in comparison with the art works without figurative elements.
What instruments does an artist have while creating an abstract painting? Only colors, forms and rhythm help the painter to depict his emotions and feelings. However, author allows the audience to be initiative. He stands back opening his soul and gives the audience the opportunity to see and understand his painting.
All paintings strongly demonstrate individuality of the author and are very informative: they show her understanding of the world and have strong energetics.
Basing on her feelings arising while she creates a painting, Nadzeya creates a color spot of the particular tonality that grows into figures, details (figurative elements), feelings and emotions (non-figurative elements) like “Glimpse from the inside of the painting” and “Emptiness inside”.
All art works have a combination of shapelessness of figures and brightness of colors reminding light effects as “Two energies”. There is an unusual change of cold and warm tone modulations in the “Dance” painting. The balance of colors and lines is worth noticing in the paintings like “Two halves of the soul” and “Flight of the soul”.
Generally speaking all paintings are very harmonic and gentle. They make you dreamy and thoughtful, but at the same time they are emotional and fascinating.

Exhibitions of paintings by Nadzeya Pashkevich – a worthy representative of the fraternal Belarusian people – provide an excellent opportunity to touch the work of a good and outstanding person.
In the paintings of Nadzeya, in her poetry, we open the thin lines of love for our native land, which have always been inherited in Belarusian artists. Nadzeya combines in her work a special emotional state with a deep understanding of history, poetry, the intricacies of being.
The artist’s works make you think, plunge into the world of feelings and alien energies, rediscover and spiritually renew the sensations of the poetry of the unsurpassed poetic thoughts of the great Ukrainian singer of the Word – Taras Shevchenko, whom the talented Belarusian artist illustrates in a series of works devoted to the poem “Dream”.
Her paintings are really similar to those dreams that cannot be forgotten – the presence of a special aura, which the artist filled her canvases, is transmitted to the viewer and sets him up to a thoughtful understanding not only of Shevchenko’s verses, but also to recall with the viewer’s own soul to them.
In the artist’s paintings, an unrestrained movement is seething, streams of unearthly energy are transferred in colors and are given in the recall of the viewer’s own soul. A similar state is caused by the canvases of artists of the Paris School – and we feel expressionism in the works of a modern Belarusian artist. The main goal of abstract painting is to convey the artist’s own state through a harmonious combination of lines and color spots. Nadzeya in her work perfectly combines the abstract, metaphysical and poetic language.

The Elementals of Nadzeya Pashkevich arts
What features attract the viewer (sophisticated and inexperienced) in a work of art? How attractive is the work of this or that artist?
I am trying to answer these questions through the prism of a specific contemporary young artist Nadzeya Pashkevich with vortical images and associations that attract her to her picturesque elements.
They, as rare natural phenomena, involuntarily enchant, despite the fact that the canvases can carry the feeling of not only a pleasant blow of the breeze, but also a storm and a hurricane that clean everything in its path. The question is: where does the fragile young maid take such unknown forces? Many of us remember the songs by VIA “Pesnyary” and “Syabry”, the melodiousness and penetration of which is so in tune with the artist from Polesie, Nadya Pashkevich.
I invite you to travel together in the distant corners of her soul. Indeed, many canvases and sheets of Nadzeya’s pastel are inspired by the native woodland land. Some of them are quite figurative, i.e. close to the specifics of a real natural motive – seen, but passed through the heart and soul of the artist. Others – non-figurative (“Two Energies”, “Look”, “Instant”, “Light of Soul”, “Follow Me”), experienced by a person who is sensitive to the slightest vibrations of nature, turn into abstract formulas of the Elementals.
Even before our eyes, a mystery of the Nesvizh Castle, or the mystical, apocalyptic Dance, or “The Two Halves of the Soul”, probably male and female, arises, as if born from a deep sea. And all this has been seen either from a bird’s eye view (or, perhaps, of cosmic heights into which the artist’s soul soars), or from within.
To do this, in addition to talent and skill, you need to feel and experience everything that is put on canvas. … But the new is a meeting with “Upward Movement”, where the flowing elements of nature are fused with a female figure, with energy directed upward and …
And again we have to appeal to comparison with music that can be heard and seen in the work of Nadzeya Pashkevich.
It is not in vain that the most radical artists of the twentieth century, Nicholas Čiurlionis and Vasily Kandinsky, relied in their work on the main expressive means of both a musical work and visual, on rhythm and associativity, on colour and harmony, on drama and irony, that is, on the emotional component of art.
The best works of Nadzeya Pashkevich possess all these qualities. This is what distinguishes true art from cold craft.
The paintings are restrained in color, like the nature of native Belarus, but life pulsates in them: sometimes calmly and measuredly, but sometimes intense, arrhythmic and expressive to the highest intensity of the soul.
To be able and possess the gift to turn and transform paints and forms into an artistic image, filled with special meaning and mystery and bearing the fullness of your understanding of the WORLD, is the highest meaning of art!
